Commercial Customers Going Green
More and more savvy business professionals are making green building decisions. Not just because they are good for the environment, but because they are good for the bottom line. Improved energy efficiency and sustainable building design results in lower energy costs, better air quality, lower noise levels, and other esthetic improvements. Whether new construction or retrofit, green decisions make sense. In addition, new government environmental protection measures are resulting in both more stringent building requirements and financial incentives for taking such action today. S&E will assist you in making sure the materials you choose in greening your commercial real estate meet the standards for such available incentives.
Residential Customers Going Green
A reduction of 5 to 15 dB is achieved by filling space in walls, floors and ceilings with fiberglass insulation. That’s because insulation absorbs and dampens sound waves, raising the Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating. The STC is a number characterizing the sound insulation value of a partition. As an example, conventionally built walls of wood and drywall have poor STC ratings, which generally between 15 and 35. This means normal speech is easily heard through walls. By constructing resilient channels between drywall and studs or joints, and incorporating sound absorbing fiberglass insulation, at an STC rating of 55 or better makes even the loudest of speech inaudible from an adjoining room.

Financial Assistance for Green Options
As always, S&E offers various financial options for customers, to help you manage your building project expenses. We would be happy to review these with you. Click here to download our credit application

In addition, currently there are government incentives for selecting energy efficient Green options, and your electricity and gas utilities may offer programs and incentives for choosing energy efficient materials. S&E is committed to helping you take advantage of available incentives, and can assist in ensuring the materials you choose meet those qualifications.

The financial case for building green is found not in looking at just the initial investment, but in the pay-back. Reducing your energy usage brings continual savings, so you can not only recoup your initial cost but benefit from savings in years beyond.
